LIBRARY BUILDING PROGRAM GETS UNDERWAY
Full Description:
The Library Board and County Council have recognized the need to increase the capacity of several branch branches as well as add a new branch in the South Congaree area. A building program funded by $2,000,000 appropriated by County Council has begun.
The first two projects, presently under construction, are a 4,000 sq. ft.
building in South Congaree and a 4,000 sq. ft. building to replace the present Swansea Branch. Next will be a 1,600 sq. ft. addition to the Chapin Branch which will expand the children’s library there. Finally, 1,600 sq.
ft. additions will be constructed at the Gilbert-Summit Branch and the Gaston Branch to expand the children’s area and provide a meeting room for library programming and public use.
