“Icehouse” to Open at Lexington
Full Description:
Sean McBride is bringing his ingenious brain child to Lexington, the "Icehouse."
The new, retail "Icehouse" concept of McBride adds a new twist to the idea of the vending machine. People can now drive up in their cars and buy bagged ice at every ice-dispensing station, instead of going to a store.
McBride also states that the reason why he chose Lake Murray as one of his locations was “because of all the contractors and landscapers that pass through there every day, and all the recreational fishing.”
The ice-vending stations are 8 feet wide and 24 feet long, and they produce 12,000 pounds of ice per day, McBride said. Customers have the option of buy a 16-pound bag of ice, prepared at purchase, or fill their own cooler or container with ice dispensed via a chute.
Price per 16-pound bag is $1 and $1.50 per pound of excess.
Lake Murray area station is at S.C. 6 and Bush River Road near an Exxon station. The other is off I-26 at exit 113, next to a Pitt Stop and Burger King.
